Currently railways in Europe are undergoing a serious process of change. Managers and specialists are required to actively shape this process. In addition to technical expertise, increased knowledge about the entire railway system and the interaction of different components, sub-systems and organizations are needed in this context.
At our institute, the VIA, we are currently addressing these requirements by offering a modular concept of continuous education. Based on this concept, tailor-made in-house seminars can be developed that rely on the following core modules:
- Railway safety and signalling technology I (ELVA)
- Railway safety and signalling technology II(ETCS)
- Operation management
- Capacity management and scheduling
- Design and layout of railway facilities
- Simulation models for timetable construction and railway operation
- Corpus of operational rules
Our in-house-seminars are prepared and carried out in cooperation with the RWTH International Academy,
the academy for further education at RWTH Aachen University.
Target groups are specialists and managers from the following areas:
- Railway companies (transport operators, infrastructure managers)
- Railway industry
- System Companies and Consultants
- Contractors involved in Urban Passenger Rail Transportation
- Public authority
