Air Transport excursion to Frankfurt Airport 2022

As part of the lecture "Planning and Design of Airports I", the VIA organised a full-day excursion to Frankfurt Airport on 11 Mai 2022. The excursion started with a capacity management lecture at the Fraport AG headquarters at Frankfurt Airport.

Afterwards, the participants were given a detailed tour of the apron by bus, during which they were able to take a close look at the airside facilities such as apron, runways, hangar, fuel depot and cargo centre. Terminal 3, which is currently under construction, was also visited.

In addition, a stop was made at the Terminal 1 apron control tower so that the excursion group could get a rare glimpse of the work of the apron controllers and view the apron from above.

Finally, they group stopped by the Terminal 1 visitors' terrace, where they could follow the busy handling process on the airside.
